Go Karts Frames

Go Karts Frames

The perfect go karts frames are usually made out of a material that is durable and lightweight allowing you to get the most out of your kart. A go kart that has a great frame has a much better chance at going through a corner at high speeds, while staying on the ground without raising any wheels.

Most go kart fans will tell you that the frame is the most important part of the machine. The frame of the go kart is the one that keeps all the parts together and if it’s built properly it will make for a very solid and trustworthy go kart. Torsion bars are usually used to weld the frame together. Using long bars will make for flexible frames, while short bars will create a stiff frame.

In the beginning, go karts used mostly stiff frames, which broke down with ease, since they weren’t very flexible. People didn’t have the proper knowledge to build go karts back then, so they didn’t get the tire traction, suspension or the frame right. As a result, the stopping, acceleration or the turning of the go kart weren’t perfect.

The engines, which can be either 4 or 2 cycles, will not compensate for a frame that isn’t healthy. If the go kart tires don’t have traction, the weight transfer will be uneven and the frame will not be as stable. Basically, the way that the frame is built will determine how the go kart will move on concrete, asphalt or on dirt, both when turning short or wide.

Turning well wouldn’t be possible without a frame that isn’t well built and sturdy. The way that you turn a corner with a certain frame determines if it’s of excellent quality or not. If the frame isn’t built properly, the go kart will drift and slide when it comes to turning corners.
