Go Kart Tires
The go kart tires are a huge factor when it comes to the speed you can reach with a go kart. Low quality tires can transform a great go kart into a loser. If you plan to be successful and have any chance at winning go kart races, knowing what tires are best can prove the thing you need to be a winner.
In a tight corner, you need to know that your go kart tires will allow you to go through it without any sliding or drifting. You need a perfect grip, which lets you go through the corner at maximum speed.
You can choose between grooved or slick go kart tires. The slick ones can be used best if the course is dry, while the grooved ones work best in tracks that are damp. If the conditions of the road are a bit damp, the tires that have treads will push the water away and prevent hydroplaning. Without the grooves you are likely to spin out on the corners you just float all over the track.
If speed is what you want, and the track is damp, your only chance of being fast is with the help of a special type of tire. If the weather is damp, and you use slick tires, you will probably slide all over the place.
Grooved tires are better at displacing water, plus they have less rubber which touches the track, so you drift or slide less. These tires are made out of different compounds together with rubber, which make sure that the wear is minimized, while road traction is maximized. At the same time, you get a longer lifespan for the tires and you can get speed when the weather is wet.
If the go kart tires don’t have grooves, they are slicks, so you use them when the track is dry. In this type of situation, you will have a great grip on the track.
