Go Kart Engines

Go Kart Engines

The go kart engines will make a huge difference when it comes to the speed you can reach. Of course, there are other factors as well, like the frame of the go kart, which counts when you want to take the corners. If you want to reach speeds of 200 km per hour or more, you need to use super karts, but the speed might prove overwhelming.

Slower go karts, which are recreational, can be found in most parks that offer families a chance to have some fun. Usable by children, these models usually reach a speed of around 15 miles per hour. From the slow ones, to the super karts, there are plenty of models in between, which you can choose from.

As far as racing go kart engines go, you will find both 2 and 4 stroke engines. Centers that cater to families usually have go karts with 4 strokes, but electric engines have started to rise in importance.

The benefits of the electric go kart engines, makes them much more useful for tracks that are short, plus they’re cheaper to maintain and to run (you just plug them in instead of putting in gas). You save a lot of money, especially as gasoline becomes more expensive. The maintenance is also cheaper, since you spend less money when it breaks.

The main downside of electric go lart engines is that they need to be charged after as little as twenty minutes of use. This downside becomes less of a problem as the technology advances and the batteries become more widely used.

Some of the largest and best known manufacturers of go kart engines are Stratton, Briggs, Tecumseh and Honda. The engines provided by them usually have between five and twenty horse power, so they’re weak engines, used by beginners in fun centers. Even if they’re considered low power engines, they can still get a go kart to speeds of up to 80 kilometers per hour.
